How Lockdown, Unlock Your True Potential

While the country is in lockdown, it is more important than ever to stay healthy both physically, and mentally. Being confined in the home can be unsettling for most individuals. However, with certain planning and understanding, it can be a great way to reach true potentials. It is possible to keep your health in a good state by a good and smart plan.

Here are some tips for staying healthy while indoors:

1. Stick to a Routine

Make a routine and stick to it. Having a planned structure for the day gives a sense of stability and peace of mind. For example, wake up early and at the same time every day or have meals at a fixed time every day. Plan different things for the weekend or day during the day off to get some change or a break from the daily routine.

2. Eat Healthy Food

Make sure you are getting a diet full of nutrition. Avoid unnecessary snacks, which is easy to do when at home. Get plenty of fruits and vegetables to stay healthy. Limit the use of trans fat in food. It may raise cholesterol levels. If an individual is obese and wants to lose weight, this lockdown time is a great opportunity for them to lose weight healthily. A controlled diet plays an essential role in reducing weight to a healthy level.

3. Stay Hydrated

Keeping hydrated is essential for the overall well-being of an individual. It supports our bodily microbiomes and the immunity system to combat infections. Also, hydration ensures that we are naturally flushing out any toxins and helps our digestive system to work better. Staying hydrated not only means to drink water all the time, but also fruits and juices are good sources of providing fluids to the body.

4. Exercise Indoor Regularly

Set aside time each day to exercise indoors. It could be yoga, weights, dancing, or other forms of exercise, whatever makes you comfortable. 20-30 minutes of regular exercise is a good start to making the body physically fit and also reduces the chance of developing various diseases.

5. Manage Stress

Stress and anxiety can increase during the isolation period. During such times, anxiety and stress may occur due to multiple reasons. It is important to alleviate some of the stress by some stress-reducing activities. It is hard when you cannot meet with family and friends, or go to work, or even step outside. But certain activities can help manage stress. Some examples are doing yoga, spending time with kids, playing with them, or watching a movie together can be some stress busters.

6. Organize Your Work From Home

Most of the working individuals are working from their homes nowadays. It is important to be organized. It is quite easy to skip meals while doing office stuff at home. Sit on a clean, organized desk with full focus and take regular breaks. Do some stress-busting tasks by utilizing those breaks. Doing these certain things can help in refilling the energy level to work better after the break. While working, make sure to keep an eye on:

  • Body posture
  • Sanitizing working area
  • Regular breaks
  • Stretching the body frequently
  • Take meals at the usual time

7. Stay in Touch

A lack of face to face contact with others is a tough situation. Many of us miss meeting friends or having a get-together with close ones. But make the most of this time to get in touch with old friends and family members. There are lots of other ways to stay in touch with people. Pick up the phone, video call friends or family, and stay in touch online.

8. Have Fun

Take time to do something you enjoy. Busy schedules may sometimes take over favorite hobbies. Get back to your hobby or learn something new that you always wanted to. Watch a movie, do some puzzles, play board games, read your favorite book, redecorate your room or your home. Try something new and have fun.

9. A Healthy Balance of News

It is essential to keep catching all the latest updates about COVID-19. But be careful and stay away from fake news and updates. This may lead to stress and negativity in mind. Always get the reference for news that you share or forward to others.
